It's definitely not the prettiest lift ever, but I didn't hitch so I'm still going to count it.

The reason my body shifts back after the bar passes my knees is from improper (or a lack of) glute activation. This was my second attempt, and the first attempt didn't get the bar more than an inch off the ground.

To fix that and get more power into the initial thrust, I moved my feet closer to the bar and tried to leverage my quads as much as possible.

It worked, but I failed to engage my hips near the top and what you see is the result - leaning back and using my thighs to lock out the knees instead of staying level, activating the posterior chain, and ending the lift with hip thrust.

I'll probably try this again in two weeks to get a prettier video for my total. It's exactly what happened with 415lbs, you can check my "1,000 lb club" story highlight on my profile to see the bad/good pulls.

Anyway, this was a satisfying pull considering I only did three working deadlift sessions in the last month. And I had a 100 degree fever (and only 3 hours sleep!) during this video 😅
