Got to hear from a wonderful panel of badass women speak on the importance of self-care this afternoon in the @femalequotient
lounge set up for #NBAAllStar
Weekend. Here are some paraphrased takeaways I scribbled down, but I encourage you to watch the entire talk on @femalequotient
’s Facebook! I’d also love to hear what self-care means to you.
✨ Create from a place of abundance, not scarcity. When you put limits on your own self-worth, you are putting those limits on everything you create and put out into the world. -@drebrownnyc
, Educator for @dove
✨Find moments in your day to unplug. It’s not all or nothing. Taking ten minutes for yourself > waiting for that week-long vacation. -Lindsey Shaffer of @headspace.
✨Lead by example. If you don’t take time for self-care, people working under you won’t feel like they have the license to do so either - LS.
✨Self-care is different than self-optimization. Self-care can be taking deeper breaths, saying NO more often, developing your own story and taking time to reflect. Self-care doesn’t have to mean expensive manicures and yoga classes. -@sophiaroe
, Chef and Wellnes Expert.
✨DELEGATE. Empower and trust the people you work with to use their gifts to meet your needs even though they won’t become a second you. “Stop looking for your execution with someone else’s gifts.” -DB.
✨In male-dominated industries, sweetness and vulnerability aren’t a weakness. Lean into these qualities and let them be strengths. Being your self brings something else to the table - empathy, emotional intelligence, whatever that may be. Know that you’re supposed to be there. -@shantidas404
, Karie Connor of @nike
✨Working smart IS working hard. If you don’t take time for self-care, it’s impossible to perform at your best mentally or physically. 🚫 glorify the hustle. - DB & Christine Katziff of @bankofamerica
