This class has solidified my passion for real nutrition and helping people find the best version of themselves. I’m reading ahead for module 6 because this section really hits home for me. This is where I learn so much more about blood sugar regulation and sweeteners. Type two diabetes is on the rise in America and is not just a burden to the person financially but their quality of life starts to diminish over time as other systems of the body start to shut down. Children are being diagnosed with this disease and it is completely preventable. We all get to decide how we will live out our life. We can either stay exactly where we are, making the same decisions and sometimes living a very uncomfortable life because we are in pain. The opposite is to get uncomfortable, be in a little bit a pain and then have a life full of happiness and continued memories made. I ended up making chili. I used those black soy bean things. They were ok. It didn't give me that chili feel, exactly. I added a ton of chili powder tho and that helped a lot. Sugar Busting can be delicious.. these are some grass-fed beef hot dogs (no ketchup for me because it’s loaded with sugar) mainly for the kids, and we made an amazing fresh veggie salad with avocado, sunflower seeds, and a clean dairy-free avocado ranch dressing. Ohhhhh yes this batch finally came out like my original batch of coconut 🥥 yogurt! Swipe left to see the ingredients. If anyone says that making coconut yogurt is super easy, that’s a true and false statement. Temperature is everything and probiotic fermentation has to occur in the right environment (moist heat). since Southern California has been hot and humid as ever, I figured now would be a good time to attempt making coconut yogurt again. I got a tip from @savoringtheflavoring and used slice of mango on day two of fermentation to thicken the yogurt to resemble more of a Greek-yogurt texture. Salted Caramel Protein Balls 💚💚 Are you a Salted Caramel fan?? 💛 Full recipe below 💚 I made a huge batch of these to share at the Grand Opening of the @mrvitamins Parramatta Westfield store tomorrow. So make sure you head in and try one out. I’ll be there too in the afternoon. I’m so proud to be an ambassador for @mrvitamins as all of their staff are qualified Nutritionists, Naturopaths or fitness specialists. So I always feel confident in the advice and great service they provide. It’s wonderful to see them expanding. Happy Friday everyone! 😘😘 💚 Salted Caramel Protein Balls (Makes 18-20 Tbsp size) 1 cup / 170g dried dates 3/4 cup boiling water 125g rolled oats 2 Tbsp flax seeds or flax meal 2 Tbsp desiccated coconut 1 tsp - 1 Tbsp Maca Powder to taste 2 Tbsp Salted Caramel Protein powder 2 Tbsp Tahini (or nut/seed butter of choice) 1 Tbsp rice malt syrup (or xylitol, stevia, coconut sugar, maple syrup to taste) 1 tsp vanilla extract 1/2 tsp pink Himalayan salt Soak dates in boiling water for 15mins. Then drain and reserve liquid Add oats, flax, coconut, protein powder and salt to a food processor and pulse until combined (more for smooth, less for chunkier texture) Add drained dates, tahini, rice malt and vanilla and pulse a few times, before turning to low speed until it comes together when pressed. Add reserved date liquid a little at a time if required. Use a Tbsp measure to roll into balls To store, refrigerate or freeze in a sealed container
