The original recipe is called CHILLI-SCENTED KING PRAWN & FETA GUVECH from the "Fire & Noble Velvet" chapter of the book, featuring cumin and chilies. The dish itself is prawns baked with aromatics such as ginger, spring onions, garlic, Aleppo peppers, along with pomegranate molasses and chopped fresh tomatoes, sprinkled with feta and then baked.
I made the dish as close to the recipe as possible, then decided to serve it up as a main by adding my favourite skinny noodles, Capellini. In the book it's suggested you serve the baked shrimps and sauce with bread for dipping, which is a sensational and delicious way to eat this, no doubt. I'm absolutely in love with the amazing flavours and ease of this recipe.
I became a huge fan of Silvena Rowe's when I first acquired the cookbook, Purple Citrus and Sweet Perfume. Her recipes and stories bring me enormous joy; I'm left dreaming of only beautiful things, even welling up at certain emotional passages of her stories. To me, when a chef or cook shares a bit of their soul, the food takes on a much deeper experience, it's so much more than gluttony, it's that connection to our humanity we spend so much of our time containing.
My recent absence from social media, honestly, has been for a whole host of reasons but the biggest reason of all is that I'm in need of soulful inspiration that can only happen offline, in the physical world. Though I'm prone to long-winded exposition, I need to be quiet and shut down so I don't become repetitive and boring, so I don't become repetitive and boring. See? Clearly, I need more downtime.
