Failure...it happens to the best of us..it happens to the worst of us,sometimes due to poor execution...breaks in form...rushing the setup...overshooting the weight..the list goes on, but it happens. The thing is, failure gives u the opportunity to make improvements where you may not have realized you needed to. A few months ago I got an invite to a meetup at @goldsgymtt
for a friendly meetup powerlifting meet style,decided to break program two days before in order to gauge my SBD maxes for the meetup...got up to 455 on squat as you saw here and a number of things happened...1.i rushed my usual setup which mentally and physically prepares me to move the weight...2. I lost tightness when I was almost to the bottom of the squat which caused my chest to cave...3. Because I rushed it I wasn’t at the dead center of the bar and realized halfway down so when I was about to push back up one side started leaning. All this led to me realizing nope this is a no go and I opted to drop the bar...which led to another stupid but split second decision on my part to brace myself on the safety bars and the bar landed on my knuckle. Didn’t realized it at the time, because it bounced but after a few minutes the pain set in...hard lol but anyway @rebuilder_strong
and I went on to gauge the deadlift and bench after that as planned. Fast forward two days and me going over this video a gazillion times...we get to the meet and I made sure to get everything in check...tightness..dead center...proper setup... and it moved like a feather. I could have cried 😅..idk if y’all can see my knuckle was hella swollen when I did it but it was.
The point is...failure highlights what you need to improve on...failure is part of the process...don’t let it get to your head and consume you..you are not your failure...it’s all about how you adjust and try again!
