Speaking of birthdays... today is a special one 💛 Our owner @sandragross1
wanted to share the magnificent story behind this bee, The Pink Tower Bee drawn for us by Beth Bronsil- a Montessori Legend and an influential mentor & friend to Sandy. Beth’s bee is tucked safely by the front door of our downtown location and is one of the first to greet you upon visiting us for a meal.
“Today we celebrate this Bee, Beth Bronsil, turning 80 years old- a Montessori legend.
A native of Rochester New York, she started her professional life as a nun living in Rochester New York working in one of the first Head Start Programs in the country.
In 1969 , she found her way to @xavieruniversity
and Montessor Education (we are thrilled she did), where she met her husband Ken and went on to teach at Cincinnati Country Day School (where she had me, Sandy Gross (Sandra), as a student). Here is a mere smattering of her numerous accomplishments as one of Cincinnati’s great pollinators:
From 1978- 2007, she was the Director of Teacher Education Program at Xavier University growing the program to being the top 3 in the country for Montessori Education.
She was instrumental in establishing Montessori teacher education programs in Korea , China, and Taiwan.
She has consulted all over the world at over 40 different schools and was the first Woman to receive the "Teacher of the Year" award from Xavier University.
In 2017, she was the first AMS member to be awarded the The Douglas Gravel Award.
She has retired a couple of times and in that tenure, started a model program for Thomaston Woods and volunteered in the first Muslim Montessori School here in Cincinnati. Apparently, she has retired again and we can’t wait to see what she starts next.”💛🐝 🎉🎁🎂
