The Resident (2011)
AGE RATING: 15 📽
Every year, millions of single women move into new apartments. They don't know who lived in the apartment before them and they don't bother to change the locks - they should!. This movie follows Juliet Devereau who, after separating from her adulterous husband, moves into a new apartment in Brooklyn; but when events in the property start to take a strange turn, Juliet realizes her apartment is not as perfect as it first seemed.
I'm quite a fan of Jeffrey Dean Morgan so when this movie was recommended to me on Netflix, I immediately added to my watch-list. I finally got around to watching it today and while I enjoyed it, I was expecting more to be honest.
The plotline isn't massively jump-scary but it is scary in the sense of imagining myself in that situation. Any woman, on their own, at night, watching this film will certainly be terrified! Yes, the plotline was creepy enough, but I honestly wanted some more background on the characters/story. I just felt that there was no reasoning or logic as to why anything was happening. Other then pure craziness, it just didn't make any sense.
While I can't say much more without spoiling the movie, I will just say that this is a very daunting spine-chilling movie that is worth a watch due to it's basic plot and great acting; but if, like me, you like a good cleverly-written plotline, this won't be a movie that you'd love.
