Behind the scenes of "Operation: Annihilate"
The Federation starship the USS Enterprise is tracking a path of mass insanity that has gripped several planets, causing the collapse of their civilizations. They approach Deneva, a Federation colony where Captain Kirk's (William Shatner) brother, Sam, has been stationed along with Sam's wife Aurelan and son Peter. On entering the system, they witness a ship dive into the local sun, its pilot raving incoherently about being "free". Transporting to Deneva's main city, Kirk, First Officer Spock (Leonard Nimoy), Chief Medical Officer Dr. McCoy (DeForest Kelley) and a security detail find the town quiet. A group of men armed with clubs try to warn the landing party away, and then attack. Kirk has the men stunned, but McCoy finds that their brains are still being violently stimulated. The party locates the Kirk family home; Sam (William Shatner in a dual role) lies dead on the floor, while Aurelan (Joan Swift) acts irrationally before passing out and Peter (Craig Hundley) is comatose. Kirk and McCoy return with the survivors to the Enterprise, where McCoy finds they are suffering from a condition similar to that of their attackers. McCoy gives both painkillers, and Aurelan wakes briefly to tell Kirk of horrible "things" spreading from planet to planet, using others' bodies to build ships.
"Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country" is at @MusicBoxChicago today through Sunday as part of the theater's #70mm Film Festival. This was the last Star Trek film to receive a 70mm release, and something tells me the Enterprise is going to look pretty darn spectacular. #StarTrek

Thank you Heros and Icon channel. This made me cry 😭 in the good way. James Doohan is the best Scotty . ( No offense to Simon Pegg) This man was a war hero. There is nothing more I can say to do this man justice. We will always love you. 💗☺ #startrek#scotty#jamesdoohan
Time for Star Trek 6. I always skip 1, 5, and 7. When I was a kid I always wanted to be as smart as Scotty. I got to grow up and be a miracle worker on machines too. Not every dream comes true...but sometimes you do get to be who you needed to be. #scotty#montgomeryscott#startrek#jamesdoohan
Happy belated birthday to the late great Gene Roddenberry. As a tribute here’s a Diamond select USS enterprise NCC-1701-A from Star Trek 6 - The undiscovered country - (The last film made before he died in 1991). This was the totally new enterprise given to James T Kirk and his crew at the end of Star Trek 4 - The voyage home after saving the earth from an unknown alien threat. The NCC-1701-A appeared in the fourth, fifth and sixth movies. This toy model is slightly different from the previous wrath of khan enterprise in that the paintwork is a lot better. The surface has a whiter sheen and the blue lights coming from the inner wings and this time the light in front of the bottom cylinder engine look more magestic. There are also a lot more sound effects and voices included when the top of the bridge on the saucer is pressed. These are taken from the three movies this ship was in. The sound again is terrific and when the button is pressed down for 5 seconds, all the lights come on for about 10-12 seconds. Both the NCC-1701 and the NCC-701-a are great models but I personally think the undiscovered country ship is slightly better. You have to be careful with the stand again as it is flimsy. Like all the diamond select Star Trek ships they are best for display and carefully moved and played with. It is quite fragile. I at some point may post a few other Star Trek ships in my collection. I have included a picture of both ships so you can see the differences.#startrektos#startrekships#startrek#startrekmovies#startrekuniverse#ussenterprise#ussenterprisencc1701a#captainkirk#williamshatner#mrspock#leonardnimoy#mrscott#jamesdoohan#diamondselecttoys#startrektoys#generoddenberry#startrekfandom
William O'Connell born today on 20 August 1933 was the actor who played Thelev in TOS: "Journey to Babel". He has made no other appearances on Star Trek, but has acted in many other television projects as well as in several films, many of which feature other Star Trek alumni. He filmed his scenes on Friday 22 September 1967 and Monday 25 September 1967 at Desilu Stage 9.
O'Connell made his screen acting debut with an uncredited appearance in the 1961 film 20,000 Eyes, co-starring fellow TOS guest actor Rex Holman. The following year, he appeared in the Thriller episode "A Wig for Miss Devore" and the Twilight Zone episode "Cavender Is Coming", both featuring John Fiedler, another TOS guest actor. O'Connell would go on to co-star with Fiedler in a 1975 episode of Kolchak: The Night Stalker. He went on to appear in a 1963 episode of The Lieutenant, a series written by Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and starring Gary Lockwood. Also in 1963, both O'Connell and TOS star James Doohan made uncredited appearances the 1963 comedy The Wheeler Dealers.
