I used to be such a hater for reboots, reimaginings, new actors playing old characters, etc. But I’ve come to really appreciate the different incarnations of stories and character portrayals that are out there. I thought nobody could replace Gunnar Hansen as Leatherface until I saw Andrew Bryniarski’s version. And #ripgunnarhansen
but there’s a new sheriff in town in Brownsville! And I was a diehard Robert Redford-as-Jay Gatsby fan. And I now adore both him AND DiCaprio as Gatsby. In fact, I may even like Leo better. And I was big-time yelling “cufk off Henry Cavill” when he donned the red Supercape. And now? Sorry, Mr Reeve ;) I’m a full convert to the new Man of Steel and Justice League films. BUT will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart for the first Superman movie with Reeve and Kidder.
And how many versions of Batman have we seen now? Can’t say I have a favorite Batman per se, but I def am a fan of Affleck as Bruce Wayne.
So, I’m a Ledgerjoker fan no doubt. But I’m super willing to see this story from Mr Phoenix and enjoy it for what it is: a story. A beautiful make-believe thing that may entertain me. I may like it. I may not. I may like Phoenix as Arthur Fleck and not as Joker. I may like him as Joker but hate the movie. Doesn’t matter. EVERY rendition of something should be taken at face value and evaluated as an individual thing. Besides nobody thought anybody but Nicholson should play Joker and Ledger nearly knocked him from our memory banks just as quickly as he robbed Gotham National.
And what about that other clown that everybody was hating on when they rebooted IT? I got two words for you, Georgie: Pop, pop! 🎈 #joaquinphoenix #joker #heathledger #darkknight #texaschainsawmassacre #thegreatgatsby #stephenkingsit #pennywise #billskarsgard #henrycavill #jacknicholson #benaffleck #robertredford #andrewbryniarski
