Owning a gym is a great thing and you get the opportunity to create a culture and vibe that is truly unique to your personality and knowledge. You can make your own schedule and you can make workouts that you think are appropriate for everyone.
More than likely however, it will always be an enormous amount of hours for a paycheck that sometimes won't even pay all the bills.
When you go home, you're still at work. Emails never stop, issues never stops, bills never stop, creating workouts, writing tons of sticky notes so that you don't forget even the smallest things and ideas....and these are just a few things.
Let's talk about your own fitness - Well, let's just say it's no longer a priority at least for a few years and you just have to work around everyone else's schedule.
But, despite everything above and much more it's all worth it. You build something unique. You start something that is your own. You go against the grain and you take some chances. This is the only option that creates freedom.

So I know I posted this on my story but I figured I’d make a post about it. 🙌🏼
So, on the left we have me at the beginning of prep, weighing 127lbs, on the right we have me yesterday morning weighing 105lbs. Woke up today at 104 again, I have a good feeling I’ll be about 102 by Friday 😂 not like weight matters.
There is nothing wrong with either body types. Do I wish I was a little leaner on the right? Of course. Do I wish I was a little leaner before I started prep? Yes. Both body’s are beautiful. But the body on the right is not sustainable. Maintaining that physique is mentally draining to say the least. But do I want to start off prep in the higher 120’s? No, not exactly. This weight transformation was 22-24 lbs, that’s a lot of weight for someone who is only 5’1 to lose! My offseason will be one of the best ones yet. Im opening my options to try new things this off season.
Now I’m sure I’m gonna get all these “omg how did you get to that weight?!” Hard. Ass. Work. So many cardio sessions & lifting sessions were put in. HOURS of meal prepping every Sunday we’re put in. This body was not achieved over night, it took me 5️⃣ months to achieve this physique. And I’m still not done. You’re never fully done with your goal even when you reach it. I will never stop trying to improve myself. And that doesn’t mean with the gym & you want to start your own company? Do it! Wanna go back to school? Go get your education! There is no limit on self improvement.
The only thing that keeps you away from your goals is YOU. You decide where you wanna go in life. The world is yours, go out & get whatever you want. Nothing is stopping you.

Often times when I go to write these posts I catch myself thinking that some days are harder than others. I get ultra stoked on the "hard" days, for actually getting it done.
But in reality, some days aren't harder than others. They're all hard. Getting up is hard. Working out when it's still dark out is hard.
Hoisting heavy weights and doing intense cardio intervals is always hard. It can be 4:45 a.m. or 4:45 p.m... It'll be hard either way.
But I do it anyway because hard work pays off. Today I did my own workout, which is roughly 40 minutes of weights and cardio intervals.

Self defense is not just about punch & kick. It about building a person holistically, it’s about giving them a greater awareness of the world they live in.
For the 30+ years we have in the business, it is still a beautiful thing in seeing someone celebrate the little things like being able to do a push up or 5. -
Or hearing years after, testimonies about how that one class or seminar gave them the courage to stay calm & burst into action.
That’s why we do it & continue to do it. Those moments are priceless, and we want to say thank you to those who have trusted in us & continue to do so!
