Are your hips too tight to squat deep comfortably or even till parallel? Improve your deadlift and squat performance by stretching your hip flexors. Swipe for some hip flexors stretches. Preferably perform these stretches after a leg session or after cardio to ensure that your muscles are warmed up to prevent injury. So, I finally did one of @natacha.oceane โ€˜s lower body functional strength workouts and Iโ€™m so glad I did because I found that it challenged me in ways that I would not have otherwise challenged myself and I actually feel like I kiiiilllled it๐Ÿ’ฏ๐ŸŒˆ. โ €โ € My favourite move of the workout (and now officially part of my top faves exercises list๐ŸŒผ) was the Alternating Pistol Squatโœจ. โ €โ € I didnโ€™t think itโ€™d end up being my favourite because tbh, I was lowkey doubting myself before I did it....already trying to think about what equipment to get for physical support bc I was already envisioning myself topple over or something๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ˜‚. BUT THEN, I was like โ€œNah bruhhhh, Andiswa. DO NOT sleep on the strength youโ€™ve been working so hard to gain in those legs - in that whooole body of yours. Every week there seems to be a new โ€˜dietโ€™ trending claiming to be the best thing to help you shed the unwanted pounds. But once you take a step back and examine them closely they all have the same traits. They all restrict calories in some way shape or form. Intermittent fasting for example restricts the time frame that you eat. Meaning over the course of the day you remain fasted for longer making you more likely to consume less calories over a 24 hour period. The 5:2 diet is 2 days calorie restricted with 5 days unrestricted over a 7 day period, but if you work out the average calories guess what?? Calorie deficit! Some also like to remove certain food groups or a macronutrient (carbohydrates) and go into detail about how the removed food is the devil, for example paleo will have you believe that anything not around in paleoithic times is the root to all modern societies woes. Ketogenic diets will tell you that carbs are the enemy. EVERY DIET has some grounds of merit, for example are some modern day foods closer to plastic than actual food? Yes! Is constantly over consuming refined sugar (in a calorie surplus) detrimental? Yes!! You can be in a calorie deficit, consume sugar in moderation, and still drop your body fat. But all these diets use a calorie restriction method that leads to fat/weight loss. So pick which ever diet YOU can stick to and you like the look and/or sound of. If one doesnโ€™t work then move onto something else. Think long term, will you be able to adhere to the diet, or will you end up regaining all the weight youโ€™ve lost because you could only stick to it short-term. Understand that removing any food group for a prolonged period of time will more than likely cause issues further down the line. FESTIVE FEELS The most common theme I find about this time of year is the feeling of guilt - guilt that you over indulged, guilt of a missed workout, guilt that you chose to have chocolate or a mince pie etc Add into that some poor toxic marketing from the media telling you to restrict what you eat and over exercise and it becomes a big shambles. When in actual fact it's just another month where you continue exactly as you are with just a few added extras.
