Throughout this two-week road trip I was astonished by all the beauty. I do have to recognize most of them were super simple wildlife.
There is truly beauty in the simple and uncomplicated. I’m a big fan of that. As I get older, I notice how I continue to brush things away that seem chaotic and process heavy. Definitely my wedding was a testament to that! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The marathon is an unforgiving sport. We spend countless hours, weeks and months preparing for an event we get 1 shot at per season. Sometimes everything comes together, the training, nutrition, the weather, a tiny bit of magic and we get the race we trained for. Sometimes it doesn’t.
I put everything I had into my training this winter. I followed my plan to a tee, I did the weekly prescribed balance workout, and 2 days of strength on top of my 6 days of running. I practiced my fuelling every week. I ate well. I planned my whole life around running and making sure I was rested and ready to train. I took baths, I had regular visits with my RMT.
When I look at what I did under a microscope, I don’t see anything I could have done better. I am struggling with the fact that my race result does not reflect my training. It’s hard. I am happy with how I ran on Monday, but I am not satisfied. I am hungry for the race I trained for. It’s a good thing to be left wanting more. The question is just, what’s next?

Ahhh rest days. Some days we love them, some days we resist them. Overall the message I hear is that...It's tough taking a day off because it's challenging to feel you can still eat/eat enough on rest days🤔
Fueling our bodies doesn't just happen on run days! Our bodies don't always work that eye-for-eye. Have you ever NOT been hungry right after a long run, but have been starving the day after (even if it's a rest day)? That's your body evening out. It's part of our biological system and actually is GOOD for us.
We have to lean into the cues our bodies are giving us. They know what's up, and we've tended to block the messages for YEARS, instead listening to whatever fad diet is trending.
The other day I even said something like, oh I only burned XYZ calories this morning, why am I so hungry?
Uhhhh cause my body was hungry🤷♀️😂 Resting doesn't mean quit fueling. Feed your body so it's ready and energized when you ask it to work hard🙏

Throwback to my athlete Will learning single leg deadlifts!
This variation is a great way to learn how to groove the single leg deadlift. Theres a few things going on here which I'll point out.
First - his back foot is on a glider which is forcing him to slide his back foot along the bench. If the glider comes off the bench then I will know that the direction his back foot is off centre to the rest of his body which makes it not as efficient as it could be. The reason for that could be a lack of hip mobility. Will does a great job here of keeping the glider on the bench.
Second - The medicine ball push. I have him doing that for a couple different reasons. When he is holding onto the ball and pushing it straight ahead it forces him to keep his arms even, which will influence the way his spine is aligned. The other reason for the medicine ball is that it allows him to keep a better centre of gravity over top of foot that is planted down on the ground.
