The Fourth Precinct may be up and running again in the very near future, thanks to a New York Undercover reboot reportedly in the works at @abcnetwork
The police drama, which ran from 1994 to 1998 on Fox, starred Michael DeLorenzo and Malik Yoba as New York City detectives. The series was created by Law & Order creators Dick Wolf and Kevin Arkadie (The Shield). New York Undercover (one of my favorite shows of all time) is notable for being the first police show on U.S. television to boast two people of color in the leading roles.
In a past interview, @malikyoba
that if the powers that be were open to bringing the hit program back, he’d be down for reprising his role as J.C. Williams — the single father who held it down as a dad, lover, partner and friend. Ladies, who could forget Malik Yoba and how he walked around in those barely laced Timbs, with a toothpick and the swag of 1,000 men? 😩
There was something special about the entire cast, really. I remember thinking how much of a BOSS Lt. Cooper was back in the day-feisty, no nonsense...a woman in charge.
And after a hard day of fighting off bad guys, who could forget the good time our favorite officers had down at Natalie’s? A drink on the rocks along with live music from the era’s HOTTEST R&B acts?! New York Undercover is certainly a 90’s Classic. But I have to say, I’m not here for a reboot, ESPECIALLY if we can’t have the original cast. 🤷🏾♀️ •
