By Dennis O'niel and Chuck Dixon.
It's the classic 90s run that defines Nightwing for the next couple of generations.
The first arc in this volume is written by Dennis O'niel and sets up Nightwing's move from #gotham
After deciding to leave the roll of Nightwing for good, Dick finds an old letter that has been sent to his parents before their murder in Kravia. The letter was a direct death threat to his parents which puts Dick immediately on a mission to Kravia, becoming Nightwing again.
The relationship between Bruce and Dick is solidified in this arc. Dick shows a lot of respect to his mentor, and Bruce respects Dick's decision.
The main theme in the story was centered around the relationship between parents and children. The bad influence some parents can have on their kids, whether being very ambitious or very abusive, is depicted through the supporting characters and the main villain. Dick discovers that Bruce has given him everything that these parents in the story deprived their kids from, including the "L" word (because the Batfamily is too badass to say love)
The action sequences are artistic and beautifully drawn in the 90s style, which is not for everyone tbh.. but it works really well. The book is definitely a recommend if you're a Nightwing fan.
