Upwards. Adjusting. Regulation.
Your life was slowly piecing itself back together again. Yes, you do still feel the darkness settling itself in your stomach, biting at you every once in a while. You didn’t exactly mind it though, it kept you grounded. You felt yourself adjusting to the real world once again, not trapped inside your own.
The cafe bustled around you as you sat contently, chatting to who sat before you. Wanda smiled back, gripping her mug with both hands. She took a large swig of her hot chocolate, leaving a chocolatey stain around her mouth. “Hun, you got a bit of- ya know.” You gestured around your mouth, making her eyes widen. She grabbed the napkin and wiped around her lips wildly, making you giggle. Today was definitely one of your better days. You had times where you were down in the dumps, the slightest thing tipping you off. You continued talking to Wanda about anything and everything, really catching up on the last two months of discombobulated behaviour. She told you about her blooming relationship with Vision, and Bruce’s amazing new discoveries in the lab. You asked about Peter, to which she smiled sadly. “He’s better...” she sighed, playing with the dirty napkin, “maybe a 4/10.” You raised an eyebrow. A four out of then? That’s not even 50%. Guilt overtook you. You were out for lunch, having a good time while Peter was still struggling. “I need to see him.” You said, standing up. Wanda looked surprised, her eyes following you as you pushed your chair in and approached the door. She eventually obliged, getting up as well. She met you not far from the cafe doors, slowing down as you stood outside a music shop. “Y/N. I don’t think he want-” You cut her off.
“I don’t care what he wants, Wanda. It’s what he needs. He needs someone to support him.” You spoke quietly, but harsh. It was almost as if you were scolding her, even though she did nothing wrong. You let out an audible groan, running your hands through your hair. “I need to help him, Wanda. Please.” Wanda simply nodded, dumbfounded. “Ok.”
