WATCH HER WORK - Once upon a time there was a little black girl named Regina whose name meant Queen in Latin. She was the eldest daughter of Gloria and Thomas and by the age of 14 she was entertaining us in her role as Brenda on 227.
She believed she could and so she did and she continued to persist in acting roles and navigating behind the scenes for shows like “Being Mary Jane” “Scandal” “Greenleaf” “This is Us” “The Good Doctor” and “Insecure”” to name a few.
Among her many accomplishments including becoming a three time Emmy award winning actress, she also manages to support and mentor others including our very own Director/Producer @msdaphnesabrina
by giving her support to this work and being a part of our documentary film, “The Souls of Black Girls”.
And then one day as God would have it, only a few weeks ago, she became the eighth black woman after Hattie McDaniel to win an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress among the other black women have blazed the trail for whomever may come next!
So as we celebrate all things woman, all things female and all things feminine this month and we also salute the black women behind the camera like @iamreginaking
that are blazing the trail for future generations. We speak their names for using the God-given power, talents and gifts to fight the good fight and all that it takes to bring our stories to life because our representation and our voice matters.
We may never know of every obstacle that you’ve had to overcome to get to where you are today but yet and still we salute you for fighting to focus on us and Regina we speak your name.
