Lifestyle change starts Monday!
I learn something new every time I get off track. The body is a fascinating thing.
Day 23: healthy lifestyle. Adopting a healthy lifestyle isn’t something scary. It doesn’t mean taking all your favourite foods and ‘bad’ habits and deciding all in one day to remove them from your life. That isn’t very practical and is unlikely to be sustainable. Committing to living a healthier life can be far more incremental.
Start by swapping some of your food choices, e.g. wholemeal rather than white flour based foods. Try reducing the number of bags of crisps or bars of chocolate you eat. Slowly phase them out. Introduce some exercise to your life, start with going for a lunchtime walk or in the evening before you sit down to watch TV. It’s really all about taking things a step at a time, all things in moderation and committing to consistency.
When I started living a healthier lifestyle I wanted to lose weight and had had little success, so I signed up for a nutritional programme because I needed a bit more structure than I had had previously. Through changing my eating habits and giving my body the nutrients it needed, not only did I lose weight and gain more energy, but a lot of my cravings and bad habits naturally disappeared. I didn’t have to stop myself from having a bar of chocolate because it never crossed my mind that I wanted one. That’s not to say that I never eat chocolate now. Of course I do. It’s just that I only have the occasional bar and it is normally a high protein, lower sugar option.
Once you find balance in your nutrition and activity you will start to feel better. So, whatever your goal, start with smaller steps and enjoy the process.

I saw these on a billboard then in Countdown so thought I'd give some tips on the new Anchor High protein drink... Drinks are actually out biggest contributor to sugar in our diets in NZ. And a big factor for diabetes. So I was quite impressed when i saw this had no added sugars in it...makes a better alternative to Primo and every other milk flavoured drink. It also has natural sweeteners such as stevia and erythritol. Unlike juice this does have 20g protein in it so has a more gradual increase of sugar being released into your bloodstream rather than a spike and has a satiety effect. It can be great for pre or post workout. However it isnt sugar free...lactose (the sugar from milk) will add up to 4.5tsp of sugar for the whole drink. Still less than primo which sits around 23g per 350ml. The question is do need to drink the whole thing in one go? Would you normally drink more than a glass of milk in one go? (This is 375ml) So unless you have been to the gym, if you aren't particularly active...just save the other half for later.

I've posted this tip before, but it is SO effective for this time of year and worth repeating.
If you start feeling the dreaded sinus congestion and pressure across your cheeks and between the eyes, here is something to try for some relief.
Roll both across the bridge of the nose and along the upper cheeks, making sure not to get too close to your eyes. Wait until the first oil absorbs before applying the next. Massage in gently.

It’s never a perfect time to start this journey. Am I right? Day one, and my 4 yr old and I had a birthday party to go to. The start time was exactly when I should be eating my snack and there was going to be CAKE there! Sweets are my nemesis. Oh, who am i kidding? FOOD is my weakness, all of it. I think simply the act of eating is what I enjoy.

has made food establishments provide calorie details to customers - current proposed budget cuts will remove funding that is intended to provide greater education around food
- programs like WIC have seen that beneficiary obesity levels have in fact improved
- fact: low income families are more likely to be obese
- $149B is the societal cost of obesity
- obesity increases risk of developing TYPE 2 DIABETIES, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, HEART DISEASE, STROKE, ARTHRITIS, SLEEP APNEA, LIVER DISEASE, KIDNEY DISEASE, GALLBLADDER DISEASE, and CERTAIN CANCERS - food establishments should remove sugary drinks from kids menus and add more fruit and vegetable options

Who ate all the pies 🥧🥧🥧? Truth is going back 18-24 months I ate everything. Without a seconds thought I would devour all in front of me. Fast forward 18-24 months I eat some of the same foods but in just manageable and controlled amounts. I track my weight every Monday as most of you know . But honestly it’s not the most important thing for me as a gauge to fatloss progress. Progress pics like the one above , a pants that is 2/4/6 inches slimmer than the previous and genuine compliments from people,are for me the real indicators that things are heading in the right direction. -
If you have the will to change , the desire to lose weight and the ability to understand the one thing that took me months to comprehend. 🌟🌟Calorie deficit and increased activity = FATLOSS 🌟🌟
