Alice Springs is a remote town in Australia’s Northern Territory, halfway between Darwin and Adelaide, both 1,500km away. It’s a popular gateway for exploring the Red Centre, the country's interior desert region. Its 1872 origin as part of the Overland Telegraph Line (linking Darwin and Adelaide) is preserved in the vintage buildings and equipment at the Alice Springs Telegraph Station Historical Reserve.

We're coming to you from a beautiful 27 degree day in the Red Centre... summer isn't far away, folks! We can't wait for the water to warm up at Ellery Creek Big Hole, #AliceSprings
' very own outback-style beach just an hour out of town. @karaegg
recently captured this unique perspective of the waterhole, framed by ancient red cliffs and native bush land. Spot the people at the far end!
Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia
This is a piece of art I bought yesterday from a local artist in Alice Springs. It caught my eye because of all the beautiful colours. The piece is about bush seeds and bush medicine, which is perfect for me, as I'm about to undertake further study on the Australian Bush Flower Essences on my return.
I also see rainbows and there's 7 larger circles which to me speak of chakras, and 8 smaller circles which to me speak of abundance. Gibson is also part of her name too. It all felt rather perfect 💜
She had to be a little bit careful to sell it to me as apparently the rangers (Government officials) can stop them from doing so. Yet the shops can do it but don't pay the artists as much (of course I realise they do have more overheads). Yet on a land these people have walked on since the beginning of time. I don't quite get it.
I've not showed her face as I asked permission to take her photo but didn't ask if I could share it. Anyway, she is beautiful ❤

The bit I loved most about running along Larapinta Trail were the times I was alone with an odd marker confirming the way, it was an adventure and one where I needed to carry enough water and gear to be self sufficient in the event of an accident. Helicopter rescues do not occur at night and there is no winch. If I got lost I was on my own - as trail runners were few and far between - once the gaps between us stretched out. Such a remote environment, so hot and dry but oh so amazing #alicesprings #larapintatrail #runlarapinta #followtheredmarker #iamarunner #remoterunning #solorunning #courageouswomen #wildwomen
Arrival in Alice - ‘delicious’ how I’d describe the feeling of warmth of sun and dry desert air stirring trees amid a massive blue sky. Coolabah and River Red’s at airport. Good transition for the snow 😬 #eucalyptus #alicesprings

THIS SATURDAY = 2 x EVENTS 〰️ At 4pm we have an exhibition opening of new work by Zoya Godoroja-Prieckaerts and an open studio of new work by current Travelling Artist in Residence, Lucinda Eva-May. Lucinda’s photographic based practice is interested in the possibilities of meaning within images. While in residence at WTS she has been working on image-based assemblages as a method to draw links and create connections, from the sensory experience of Alice Springs, to meanings within broader personal, aesthetic and intellectual contexts. Join us for these two events this Saturday 25th August.

A little timeout on the adventure. Just in love with this beautiful landscape and a quick breather to appreciate the outback.

Central Australia’s Barbara Weir has excited audiences all over the world with highly compelling abstract canvases that masterfully evoke a timeless illusion of depth and subtle rhythmic movement. It is an art that is as remarkable in its exquisite expression as is the story of her life. Her journey has been one of extraordinary courage, determination and achievement.
Barbara is one of Aboriginal Australia’s stolen generations. These were people who were forcibly taken from their parents as children and sent to other parts of the country to be raised in European families. This policy was pursued from the early 1900’s to the 1970’s, as part of the Australian government policy to integrate mixed race children from fringe settlements into mainstream Australian life. Barbara’s mother is Aboriginal artist Minnie Pwerle and her father, Irish-American Jack Weir, a married station owner in the Northern Territory.
