Day 8 of our 30 in 30 Challenge!
Make sure you jump in and say Hi if your watching!
What has everyone else been up to on this fabulous Sunday?
Day 1: Be in the moment.
Tomorrow I turn 30. It’s been incredible to reflect on the last 30 years over the last 30 days - the people and experiences I’m grateful for, the lessons learned and the hopes for the future. Tonight I paused, shed a couple (happy and nostalgic) tears, and just focused on the moment - being surrounded by wine, good food and people I love who flew in to celebrate with me. One of my biggest goals for the future is to continue to focus on living in the moment. Really fully living, loving and not taking anything for granted.
Day 2: Future Me.
I’m devoting today to future me. May I genuinely love myself no matter my size, stress level, bank account, job status, family situation. May I find ways to deposit energy and time into my health and happiness. May I surround myself with those who bring light and love to my life and I then pour my light and love into them as well. May there be new triumphs, new challenges, new fur babies and maybe even real babies (down the road...) May Kelsey Barbara Jones Art find and be her true self - who God made her to be.
Day 3: Can’t Please Everyone.
This is one I’m still working on and I think it will take this next decade to really accept. I’m a people pleaser, and in the past I’ve been able to work hard to make sure the people in my life are getting the best of me. I’m realizing that’s not always going to be the case. Sometimes I’m going to disappoint people, sometimes I’m going to have to sacrifice time pleasing others to put myself or my family first, and sometimes for reasons outside my control - people won’t like me. I’m going to work on making sure I place my time and energy where it’s needed, and not live or die by other people’s opinions of me.
Day ✌🏻of 30 in 30!
That’s 30 days of 30 minutes of walking. It’s such an easy goal, anyone can do it. Walk fast, slow, whatever...just walk. 🚶♀️🚶♀️🚶♀️
Day 1 outta 30 😄 Got a pleasure to teach Karolina’s @charliebrown50
first ever 🔥hot yoga🔥 class. Then some quick play time after teaching. As much as I love backbends, they always get me... #wheel
pose as an opportunity to open the #heart
. I found the wall being pretty helpful as a leverage to lean more into upper back flexibility, by pushing the heart more towards the wall. #yogafun #30in30 #backbend #hotyoga #traditionalhot
Day 4: Heart from the Heartland
Before I moved out to DC, I had drinks with @amyreneebecker
and her husband Matthew. I didn’t know Matthew that well, but we all talked about moving and big changes and taking calculated risks and how excited they were for me. Before we left, Matthew had some pretty solid advice for me. He looked me right in the eyes and said people were going to let me down, and maybe not treat others the way we were taught. He told me to keep my heart from the heartland and always remember who I am and where I come from. I’ve kept that with me ever since and when I deal with people who may not treat others so great, I make sure to show them what a heart from the heartland looks like. I’m by no means perfect, and I get frustrated just like the next guy, but a huge lesson I’ve learned is that kindness and making people feel important and included can go a long way. May I always wear my heartland heart proudly.
Day 5: Sandwich Loaf/Family Traditions
Oh, of COURSE I’m dedicating a day to honoring my beloved sandwich loaf. First introduced to me by my Grandma Loveland, and it was love at first bite. I never wanted a birthday cake after that. Only sandwich loaf. It’s also a way of saying how much I love and cherish family traditions - most of mine are food. Traditional orange colored everything Halloween dinner, Swedish meatballs and ham balls, lefse and mashed potatoes with paprika (it made a difference). So grateful for these little pieces of family history, tradition and food to pass down to the next generation. And yes, my children will LOVE sandwich loaf!!

I made it! Today I got the opportunity to visit my 30th country in my 30 years of existence! One more to go and then after 4 weeks of being away, it’s finally time to head back home, phew. Special shout out to my wife and travelling companion @_sandyquach.

The last 30/30 and I’m ending on a funny one. It’s the one that makes me laugh the most. Thanks to everyone for their support. It has been super difficult to make these everyday but I learned so much about working in a totally different way. Sometimes you just have to try something new and shake it up. Day 6: Discovering what I want in life.
While I said I was learning and striving to live my life with intention, that also is putting into focus the question - what is my intention? What is it that I really want? What brings me joy, fills me up with love, makes me want to pour love into others? I’ve lived by doing what I was told (I’m a really good rule follower), or what I was/am good at... but is that what I really want? I’m going to be seriously asking myself this question with each new opportunity or decision that comes my way. I want to draw closer to discovering what my purpose is on this earth.

Day 7: My bonus family
Family is something you can’t choose. In-law family is something you usually get as a package with your partner. I hit the jackpot with not only having a loving blood family, but also a truly awesome bonus family too. They’ve taken me in and treat me with the same love they treat their own blood relatives with. I’ve gained another set of loving parents, sisters, a brother, aunts and uncles, cousins and grandparents. Can’t wait to keep making more memories with this bonus family too!!
In 1988, God used Founding Pastor Craig Strickland to create a place for people who had given up on church but not given up on God! This place would become what we know as Hope Church, a place where, still today, everyone is welcome & wanted!
30 years later, His faithfulness has remained strong and promising. As we prepare to celebrate 30 years of incredible ministry, we’re thankful for all that God has done—and will continue to do—in and through our house!
Thank you, Pastor Craig for your obedience to God and never giving up on your calling to share the love and hope of Jesus, everywhere!
