Last nights deadlift started off great then I had a hard crash on my top sets. I think it’s time to clean up my diet. I’m starting to love to pull this way again but I know my conventional is way stronger. My best conventional pull was prepping with sumo. ✖️Arm day finisher ✖️ 21’s ♠️♣️ -21’s have always been a staple in my arm routine. And they’ve definitely helped add size to my arms. I came up with this variation on them recently and I’m loving the way they feel. Pretty simple and straight forward. Just get a band and secure it to something that won’t move and pick a bar of your choice. You can also play with the angle on these bringing them closer to the ground and increasing the angle or bring them a little higher to where you’re pulling from straight in front of you. Make no mistake about the band it will light you up at the end and really make you work for those last few reps. Walked away with first place 🥇 in the 181lb Classic Raw Open division. Here’s how it all went down. Weighed in at 79.8kg/175.9lbs. Video 1: Squats Opener: 227.5kg/501.5lbs ⚪️⚪️🔴 2nd: 242.5kg/534.6lbs ⚪️⚪️⚪️ 3rd: 252.5kg/556.7lbs 🔴⚪️🔴(depth) 5lb all time PR in wraps. Walkout with 556 was shakey, and I think I just second guess my decent into the hole. I knew it was going to be close when I racked it. Feels awesome knowing that the weight is there though. Some pulls after high bar squats today. Fairly easy pulls at 485 for 5 singles following high bar 7’s at 330. Squats continue to feel great. Really enjoying all variations of squats right now as I’m going shoeless and beltless and feeling like I have a decent control over where I want things to go during my reps. Deadlifts weren’t hard but man positioning is tough on the stiff bar. Still trying to get more comfortable and better with it. First day of prep for Worlds on deadlifts, worked up to my 2nd single with 500lbs using a new grab and go method tryn to cut down on wasted energy. A week ago when benching, I got stapled by 335 and @seth22redden had to legit upright row it off me.. A weight I haven’t failed in over 4 years. My shoulder was so flared up that my arm was essentially numb. Today was my last heavy bench session of this prep. And this is 410lbs. Everyone sees the single rep PRs and the rep PRs but besides a few close friends or people who give a shit, no one sees the work that gets put in. Week after week, training session after training session. If you want something that bad, then fucking work for it and quit bitching. Had a good day overall. Hit 2 meet PRs on squat and deadlift and tied my meet PR on bench. Squat 358, bench 286, and deadlift 501. I definitely crushed my deadlift goal with some left in the tank. Yesterday was one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve ever had. Met some very impressive lifters, who upon first meeting them treated me like family. @hashtagdietcoke has a great thing going with @ritual__apparel , and should be proud to have such class acts on his team. I love moving heavy weights around, but meeting like minded people and supporting them is really what this sport is all about. Time and consistency make all the difference. This was my old PR of 545 on the left which I turned into my opener on the right in a matter of 12 weeks. (I know you can’t see the weight so you’ll just have to believe me) lol. So for anyone struggling or getting frustrated with their lifts just keep plugging away and over time those weights will become easier and easier. I have to remind myself of this too so I am not the exception here. I’m nowhere near where I want to be but this is a good comparison of things. We all want everything yesterday but it doesn’t work like that. You really gotta put the work in and don’t half ass anything. 615/315/580 for 1510 total at 181, a 65lb PR. Had an absolute blast today! I was lucky enough to have a huge support system, and I really can’t thank all of you enough. Total was good for 2nd in the 181lb professional class, behind the insanely impressive best lifter @papabearrogers. Very honored to have shared the platform with him/meet him, and some other very strong lifters. I’m extremely proud of my performance. With that said, I certainly left some weight on the platform for squats. Part of the learning process, and I really wasn’t 100% sure where my strength level was. Probably had another 20+lbs in me on squat, just missed a 325 bench, and jumped from 580 to 620 on deads to take a stab at the xpc Arnold qualifying total. All in all, experiences like this is what I love about this sport, and the reason why it continuously becomes a bigger and bigger part of my life. Now to take a nice offseason, grow a little, work on weaknesses, and absolutely smash that qualifying total in the not so distant future.
